Sizzling keys is free software that allows you to customize your keyboard to control your iTunes. If you have a mouse with lots of buttons you can even configure your mouse to those keystrokes and have all your music control in the palm of your hand while you work away. With my Logitech MX Revolution I can have all my normal mouse functions while still having control over volume, play/pause and changing next and previous songs.
